expanding the USB ports

My Mac mini (M1, 2020) does not have enough USB-A ports for all the peripherals I need to have running at the same time--external drives, printer, trackpad charging cable, external web cam, etc. Can anyone recommend a good device for extending the number of ports that are connected to the computer? I've tried one from elgato and another from CalDigit but they both have the problem of the computer not recognizing the device and/or not having enough power to run all the peripherals. Please don't just do a Google search and offer suggestions that you see. I can (and have) done that. I'd like suggestions for devices that you have had actual experience with using. Thanks.

If 2 or more of those USB devices are bus powered drives, then you should get and use a Self-Powered Hub.

I personally have two self-powered Sabrent USB 3.0 hubs. One is an older 4 port and one is a 7 port. Both work just fine with our 2018 and 2020 M1 Mac mini's.
