my emails suddenly became lists to individually open when it's always been an individual page; how can i get that format back?

When I open my Mail it looks totally different. From the normal look to just a list of emails that I now have to open each to get to the page. How did that happen and how do I get it back?

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.14
