How much heat would be necessary to damage my iMac?
I have a bedbug problem in my building and heating up the apartment is the best way to kill them.

Every Mac has specifications that include operating and storage temperatures. You do not say exactly what model/year computer you have to here is an example from the Macbook Pro 13 inch computer:
MacBook Pro 13-inch - Tech Specs - Apple
"Operating temperature:
50° to 95° F (10° to 35° C)
Storage temperature:
−13° to 113° F (−25° to 45° C)"
Look up the specs for your computer.
It's a 27 inch late 2015 iMac. The specs say operating temp of 50-95 degrees F. The computer would be not operating during the procedure which would require an external temp of 125-140 degrees F.

If the max storage temperature for your Mac is below 140 degree F I would not leave it in the area being heated.
I didn't see anything about storage temp in the specs, only operating.

I would assume it is the same as or similar to the storage temperature for the Mac I provided as an example above.
I did find the specs for the 2011 iMac: iMac (21.5-inch, Mid 2011) - Technical Specifications
"Operating temperature: 50° to 95° F (10° to 35° C)
Storage temperature: -4° to 116° F (-20° to 47° C)"
Thanks. Hopefully I won't have the problem but if so I could leave it out in the hall.
Don't allow it to get heated up unnecessarily. It's a relatively portable device; take it out of the building.
