iphone 15 pro max audio problems

This brand new phone will play music and phone calls through the phone's speakers or through my bluetooth ear buds. If I want to play through a wired headset or through my car (which has to be hardwired), when I plug it in, the audio continues through the phone's speakers and will not play through the hardwired connection. I have the appropriate adapters. It always worked perfectly with my 12 pro max - I bought new connectors to go with the usb c on the 15 pro max.

What am I missing here?

Hello jillmcmahon,

Based on what you've told us, it sounds like your iPhone isn't recognizing what's connected. We'd recommend trying another adaptor or trying your adaptor with another iPhone. If the issue continues, it's related to the adaptor. If the issue is only happening with your iPhone, we recommend contacting Apple Support for more help: Get Support

Thank you. I have tried different adapters with no luck so far. I have one more to try as soon as it arrives - these are all new because of the usb c. Everything worked well with my old phone (12 pro max) with its lightning adapters. So if the next doesn't work, I will do Apple support.
