MacBook Pro does not boot after installing Ventura 13.6

Hello everyone,

I have a MacBook Pro with M1 Max chip and just wanted to update to Ventura 13.6. I saw that the MacBook restarted a few times but then the screen was black for some time.

If I try to start it I can see the Apple logo but then the screen turns black.

In addition, if I try to get into Recovery (keep the power button pressed) I can see the Apple logo then an additional text is displayed underneath saying that recovery is loading. Sadly, the screen turns black afterwards as well.

Is there anything I can do to be able to start it again?

Try a firmware "Revive" to see if that makes any difference since it resets the security enclave & firmware. Unfortunately this procedure requires access to another Mac running macOS 12.4+.

You can also try using an external display, but sometimes it is hard to get video to the external display.

If a firmware "Revive" doesn't help, then you will need to try a firmware "Restore" which will also destroy all data on the internal SSD and push a clean OS onto the internal SSD.

If none of this helps, then you will need to have the laptop repaired. I hope you have a good backup since it is unlikely you will be able to recover any data unless the issue is only with the built-in Display. There just are not that many options if recovery mode is unavailable.
