iPad drained overnight

My son has been having charging / battery issues. The iPad is from 2017, 10.5 inch. It seems like it’s starting to act its age I guess. Touch ID rarely ever works… battery isn’t what it used to be, charging system issues, etc. Is this par for the course considering it’s age?

I feel like we go through charging cables every month. The last time I ordered 4 Amazon basics lightning cables, and they seem sturdy shoestring like. But two new in box ones do a lot of charging / not charging. They seem fine on my iPhone 13.

Anyway is there a cheep fix or is it time to start looking at new iPads? He’ll only be 8 in October, and it was slightly used when he got it (didn’t get a brand new one for a kid).

I have two iPad Pro 10.5" devices. Both have batteries that still work, but are definitely showing their age with reduced runtime before the battery must be recharged.

If your iPad is still using its original battery, it may benefit from replacement. If the iPad is otherwise healthy, a battery replacement may provide many more years of useful utility. Whether or not you would consider the cost of replacement of the battery to be cost effective - as opposed to putting the money towards a much newer model iPad - only you can decide.
