Colors on shapes don't apply
I drew a simple circle and colored it red, yet the color only applies in the preview window, not actually on the rendered instance. Any ideas?

If you drop down the menu highlighted in the image, I'm sure you'll find you have the Alpha channel set to view in the canvas. You may have accidentally set it by typing Shift-A somewhere outside a Text object.
