Will silencing my iPhone automatically silence an Apple Watch?

curious about the answer before I finalizing buying an Apple Watch

The traditional hardware Silent switch on iPhones does not get transmitted to the paired Apple Watch, the Watch must be set to Silent in a separate action.


However, the Focus modes like Do Not Disturb are shared between devices, and (if enabled in settings) if you set either the watch or the iPhone to Airplane mode it will automatically mirror on the paired device.


With the iPhone 15 Pro's introduction of electronic switching and the Action Button it is possible this may change in the future.
