Change the default resolution of Screen Shots?

Does anyone know if it's possible using a Terminal command or other means to change the default resolution of screen shots from 72ppi to 144ppi? It was 144dpi in Monterey.

TIA

I realize this is a slightly older thread, but I also noticed the 72 instead of 144dpi in Sonoma... This might help:

Another discussion said if you keep Floating Thumbnail enabled, it keeps 144dpi. That seemed to work for me.

[Press Shift+Command+5 and choose Options dropdown near the bottom of the screen to enable "Show Floating Thumbnail"; I had this turned off, since I don't like the preview. (I usually use Shift+Command+4 for Screenshots.)]

Otherwise, adding @2x at the end of the file name will also make it show as Retina... E.g. Screenshot@2x.png

You can read up on sips —the scriptable image processing system.

there was some talk over here—

144 to 72 seems you could do the inverse(?) for your 72 to 144
