Spanish tilde (or "acento") not in the usual shortcut in Sonoma

In Mac standard keyboard inputs, like US International keyboard input, I could write a Spanish tilde (´) with Option + e. This would then let me pick any vowel and it would put the tilde on top ("é", for example). Since updating to Sonoma, I'm not able to use that shortcut. Nonetheless, when accessing keyboard inputs in Settings, the letter "e" is still the default key for the tilde. And when I press Option + Shift + e, it lets me write the tilde but without the option to write it on top of a vowel.
