Unable to make calls using wired headphones on locked screen

Hi, I have an IPhone 14 Pro and I'm not able to make calls when I have the wired headphones and the phone in my pocket, I was able to do this with IPhone 10 by press and hold the center button and say the name of the contact. I have this settings ON: "Listen to Hey Siri", "Press side button for Siri", "Allow Siri when locked", Language: English, could you please help

iPhone 14 Pro, iOS 16

Thank you, through the phone were not able to help so I went to an Apple store, the issues are

  1. On lock screen with wired headphones Siri doesn't give a chime to let you know is listening.
  2. You just need to briefly press the button on the headphone and then ask for the call, this is different from before; it was needed to continue press the button while you were asking for the call.

Solution

Briefly press the button on the headphone and then ask for the call.

I'll think it's a bug that Siri doesn't do the chime anymore, if you have the phone in your pocket and press the button on the headphone you don't know if Siri is listening.

Hello capf,

To help understand the issue further, we have some questions.

Are you using Apple EarPods with Lightning Connector or a Lightning to 3.5 mm Headphone Jack Adapter? To find out which ones you're using, take a look here: Use Apple wired headphones - Apple Support

If you use other headphones with your iPhone, does the same thing happen?

You should be able to use Siri by pressing the center button on t he Apple EarPods. This is explained in section "Activate Siri with a button" here:

Use Siri on iPhone - Apple Support

Thanks.

Hi, I'm using the original Apple EarPods with Lightning Connector. I tried Siri by pressing the center button on the Apple EarPods, on the lock screen appears the Siri circle for couple seconds and then closes and nothing happens, I tried without the EarPods and Siri is able to make the call, just tried with brand new original Apple EarPods with Lightning Connector with same outcome as the old ones. The original Apple EarPods with Lightning Connector work for playing music with one touch, lower/higher the volume, skipping a song with double touch, answering calls with one touch.
