Speaker has too much of noise after upgrading to macOS Catalina > Monterey
To save a lot of time, I've included the original thread, and title) which dates back some time (Speaker has too much of noise after upgra… - Apple Community).
I have the same problem as all the users on that thread, with sound degrading starting with the left speaker, and then over a few days spreading to the right speaker. I also think that it seemed/seems like a software issue, the speakers have never been overused. or abused. I even remember the moment the sound started distorting on the left speaker, and actually thought it was a bad recording on a YouTube documentary.
However, since I couldn't find a cause, I did wonder 'if' it was a simple broken speaker? But, when I noticed that gradually the right speaker was also starting to degrade, it seemed obvious it is connected with the OS. I suspect that the power sent to the speakers is/was incorrect (a power surge) for a short period, and this damages the speakers, if they are in use. It's about the only reason I can think a computer speaker would break (or any other type of speaker too). Anyhow, I've bought a replacement set of speakers, which I'm going to try out in a few days. However, I'd be curious to read if people are still getting this problem, and more interested to see if Apple is making any effort to reach out to people to solve the issue?
Lastly, let me remind people to read the original thread, as you'll see this is an ongoing issue dating back sometime, but clearly still very present.
