How to connecting Mac Studio and a Synology DS723 Nas Drive whilst keeping ethernet 10gps internet

I'm trying to connect my Mac Studio to a Synology DS723 NAS Drive whilst having a direct link with each other but also still having a hard wired internet. Currently running a cat 6e direct from the router to the mac studio but now need to connect a NAS due to needing a solution for my expanding photo library in lightroom.

Trying to work out how to do this and not sure how to go about it? Do I need a switch and if so how and which one is recommend to keep best connection with internet ( I still need to upload massive files via wetransfer and hard wired). Any help would be appreciated

Wait. Your Router cannot use 10G, it only has 0.853 Gigabit speeds on the Internet side. 1 Gigabit Ethernet is perfectly adequate for your Router.

Take your thinking about what is the BOSS of your home Network and 'shake it' to re-arrange. Leave your internet connection on a 'spur' with your main 10 G connection from your Mac to your NAS.

It appears your Synology NAS has BOTH 10G and 1 G ports. My recollection is that Synology also make Switches, and there may be an Ethernet switch already built into your particular NAS device. it may not have two 10G ports, but with the devices you have, you do not need another 10G port, YET.
