How do I enable SMS Messaging?

On your iPhone, Go to Settings > Messages > Text Message Forwarding and enable your Mac.

It doesn't really enable SMS on your Mac, but you can send SMS from your Mac through your iPhone.

The Messages App has limited support for SMS. Android based messages only work when communicating with iPhones, and don't work on Macs or iPads.
