No more rapid than usual after a new iOS/device releases (indexing can take days for example). Under settings for battery look at what apps are using the most battery. Look to see what shows a lot of background activity. If background activity isn’t necessary turn it off for the battery hogs. Make sure all of your apps are updated.
Batteries - Maximizing Performance - Apple
If you feel like settings are optimal, indexing is done, all apps are updated (or at least all that the developer has released), no data hog apps causing an issue, etc then you can contact Apple Support directly for more troubleshooting to determine if something abnormal is going on or if what will be true for most with this complaint it is the normal early days occurrence with a new device and new major iOS.

Thank you - I've already tried to close out all "battery hogs". I've also turned the phone off, allowed it to reset, and turned it back on. All apps are updated as well. I'll try Apple Support next, because it's unusual to drain so quickly (drains at 1% per minute now).
