Adjust size of icons on Apple TV -- OS17 update

I just talked to Apple and that was the main updated they did on the 17.0 for AppleTV was the make the home screen where you can see a lot more apps at the same time.

There is no adjustment to where you can make the apps bigger. I told them that was not acceptable because I do not want to have to wear my glasses just to see the apple on my TV I would like have the ability to make them bigger like you can on the iPhones. This was a senior advisor and she completely understood and gave me the Apple Feedback website to address my concerns on. That Apple does take them seriously and if they get enough about the size of the apps not be able to be adjusted than there will be an update to make that an option. Same. Nothing in Settings or Accessibility that I can see...

I love my Mac products. But there are certainly times I'd like to punch the geniuses who come up with "improvements" like these just for the **** of it. No tactical advantage gained in having 6 apps in a row instead of five.

Another case of apple, fixing a problem which really didn’t exist. On my iPhone, when I get more apps, than will fit on a page it simply creates a new page.

maybe it’s just that I’m old but I really don’t like it when people or companies screw with my stuff without asking!!!!!!

I agree and they changed the background color making it more difficult to see plus it now looks grainy vs the once clear sharp images. My husband hates the icon size and wanted to know why it was changed and why can’t the user decide what they want since we are the people buying and using Apple products??? Maybe it’s time to try out a competitors product to see if they are USER FRIENDLY especially to SENIORS!!!

You should always choose the tool that best meets your needs. But, perhaps don't try to speak for all seniors. Personally, I hardly noticed a difference.

I just discovered the clock is so little! I can’t read it. How is there not an option to adjust display? I’d much rather have larger icons as well. I hope they fix this.

Exactly. They should give an option to change the icons, to either small or to large or allow to customize. They just change it for everyone and there was nothing wrong with the icons before on the Apple TV.

Apple is getting worse and worse just making changes to make changes like everyone else with no concern for what people like ! Apple TV was easy to see and use now we have junk to click on that we can’t see! Guess I can’t see any reason to buy anything else on this platform!

Agreed. The customer should be able to have the product that allows them to decide. Apple and its designers are overlooking a large percentage of the senior users who actually purchase the products. The larger icons allowed older users a better screen to use. My husband hates Apple’s decision to make the icons smaller and more confusing

I sent product feedback. Thanks for the suggestion. I think that the size of the app icons should be adjustable. Since I have a 54" screen it's not that big of a problem for me, but it messed with where my icons were on the screen. As my Mom said: Habits are the strongest force in the Universe.

Did anyone else have to reload icons after the update? I had several of them require reloads & my Tablo app had to be completely removed and reloaded. I have hours & hours of recordings on my Tablo device, so I was worried I'd lose them in the shuffle. Fortunately, that didn't happen. I still have 3 apps with "waiting" showing up underneath them. I should probably delete or reload those. Those apps are for streaming services I'm not currently subscribed to, but I might resubscribe to those in the future.

Perhaps. I suspect most people are like me. We just didn't notice. But, as I've often said, Apple can't please everyone all the time. But it's good to hear other views!
