"Add to passbook" tabs does not lead to QR code in Wallet iPhone

Since the Pandemic, we've to make a reservation in the swimming pool I visit weekly.

On the website of the swimming pool, I make my reservation, pay and finally there're two options: displaying a PDF with blablabla and a QR code, or a tab "add to passbook".

Making the reservation in Safari on the Mac or on the iPhone, I receive a pop up with the QR code and I can click on "add to Wallet". After I do this, the provided QR code is stored in the Wallet on the iPhone, also when I make the reservation on the Mac.

Doing the same on Safari on the iPad, I get a message saying something like "Safari can't download this".

Because of a real mess on my iPad, I did the upgrade to iPadOS 17, wiped it and set this thing up from scratch. No iCloud backup restored, just installed everything individually.

But after clicking on "add to passbook" on the swimming pool's website, again the error.

Wallet is activated in the iPad's iCloud settings. What could be wrong?

There is no wallet on the iPad in which to store passes; that's why you receive an error. If not using your iPhone, you'll need to keep the QR code provided.

This could explain a lot.

I was told by somebody on a Dutch forum to try Chrome on the iPad.

In my opinion Safari on the iPhone and iPad were the same, but it seems I'm wrong...

Weekly swimming, so the Chrome option will be something for next week.

Have you tried using both WiFi and cellular, if your iPad has cellular.

It’s probably a Safari issue on iPad. There are multiple sites I visit on my iPad that don’t work properly and yet when I visit on my Mac, the site is fine. It could be a web design issue where the developer didn’t construct the iPad site properly to enable certain features to work properly.

in the mean time I’m on iPadOS 17.0.2

the behavior stays the same
