Mac photo screensaver has clock over faces (Sonoma)

The photo screensaver now splatters faces with an enormous ugly clock, which you don't seem to be able to move or turn off. This "improvement" has appeared in the new Mac version; previous version had a smaller clock which even moved with the "hour hand"; this quite useful effect appears to have gone.

Any ideas how to restore it to the old style? I sure don't want to use any of the new nauseating screen savers that apple are forcing down your throat.
