How to find files with Tags on NAS (Synology) using Finder?

I am trying to use Finder to find files on my Synology. Searching for specific Tags doesn't return any results.

Universal Search on the Synology can find all tagged files. So can NeoFinder.

How can I get Finder to find Tags on my NAS?

I have mounted my Synology shared folder with a file bearing two tags on it. The Finder shows those tags on the particular file, so does a Finder Get Info, but a Finder window search with Spotlight (tag:tagname) while in that NAS folder fails to match on either tag name. I have tried this with an SMB and an AFP over TCP/IP mount.

Since that NAS mountpoint on your Desktop has not been indexed by Spotlight you will not find any tag on it via Finder or the Terminal (using Spotlight's mdls command).

Its not that you cannot see the tags in Finder, you just cannot search for them on the Synology by name.

Tested: Sonoma 14.0, Ventura 13.6
