I'm considering buying my first Apple Watch - I'm interested in the health features of Series 9, but not sure it's compatible with my iPhone SE (iOS 16.6.1). It doesn't seem to be easy to find which watches are compatible with which phones, can anyone give any guidance?

Indeed you’re right. The Apple Watch 9 comes with watchOS 10. watchOS 10 requires iOS 17 or later.
