4 years of photos have suddenly disappeared from my 7 month old iPhone 13. No explanation given from Apple Support other than "data loss". 4 years of personal invaluable memories that I no longer have, and no fault of my own. Aren't applications such as iCloud, which I have, created to avoid situations like this? No longer confident in Apple products. Has this happened to anyone else? Hoping for some advice, to pause my crying smh thanks.

Were you using My photo stream? Apple discontinued my photo stream a while ago. See this for further reference about that

I am sorry that your data got lost. Do you have a recent backup of your iPhone? You might want to check that to see if you can recover any of your photos

Thanks so much for your reply. Nope, I never used photo stream. The representatives did a back up and software update, but unfortunately couldn't recover anything. A complete nightmare :(
