Is there a way to get rid of the "Game Mode" notification?

I'm pretty sure there's no way to get rid of it, but I'm going to use this thread as means of complaining and requesting that there be a setting to turn off the "Game Mode" notification.

I am a minimalist and this notification irks me to no end.

Let me game in peace (again), Apple.

Allow us to turn off that vile notification.

Thank you.

I totally agree. I find this feature extremely anti-consumer even when I don't tab in and out of games.

However, I think complaining about it on the Apple forums isn't as useful as complaining directly to Apple about it.

You can complain directly here if you haven't already done so:

Feedback - macOS - Apple

And definitely tell all your Apple friends to do so as well. The more the better.

I hope, too, that we will be able to disable it in the future.

All the best.

Same here! Pop-ups and animations are super disruptive for me. Disabling system notifications should absolutely be included as an accessibility feature.

For now, I've adjusted to playing my game in "windowed" mode. Seeing the menu bar up top is less immersive but much easier to tune out.

If this becomes an issue more often, I guess I'll look into installing a Linux partition for gaming instead.

I was recently flooded with connection requests from gamed. The first thing I did was go into Activity Monitor, search on gamed, then Force Quit gamed. That worked for a while but suddenly gamed restarted itself and the connection requests started up again.

I am not a gamer, have never used any of my devices for games and have always had Game Center turned off. I do not have any idea why gamed would suddenly be running.

I have Little Snitch and when gamed restarted itself and the barrage of connection requests started again, I set the first gamed Little Snitch connection request that popped up to these values:

Identification: Code ID

Action: Deny

Direction: Any Direction

To/From: Any Server

I agree with everyone else: There is no good reason to have gamed running when Game Center is turned off. gamed is not a critical Mac OS function and we should not have to take measures like this to keep a unnecessary app from running on our computers.

This is a highly annoying feature. Many gamers don't simply load a game then keep playing continuously; they tab in and out of a game and every time they do so this intrusive notification pops up.

I have high functioning autism and it is very disruptive to me to have things popping up on my screen like this.

Please can the ability to turn off the notifications be added in an update soon.

Thank you

I too have Zero Interest in Games and have never used any type of Games ever

With Game Center Turned Off

But then again, I see very little need to use a Third Party Two Way Firewall either

Any Inbound Internet Connections would actually be directed to the IP Address of the Router / Access Point rather to the computer's actual IP address

Refer to Activity Monitor in various modes

Network Activity seems to be Not be Sending or Receiving any Activity

CPU Activity - zero % of CPU power
