Hey Apple,
Thanks, but you didn’t really address MikeOnTheRoad’s question. He asked how he can adjust the display brightness in Standby Mode. You link simply states “the screen adapts to low ambient light at night and displays in a red tint so that it’s not intrusive while you’re sleeping” in Night Mode.
It doesn’t say anything about how a user can adjust the brightness.
The reason this distinction is important is because, in my opinion (and I assume in Mike’s ), the brightness level in Night Mode is far to dim.
It’s nice that it adapt’s to ambient light, but it needs to enable some user input to adjust to a brightness level that is apropriate for each individual. Not a one-size-fits-all solution applied only by the device.
If there is a way to adjust the brightness, please let us know. If there isn’t a way, please address the brightness and include it in a future update.
Because, I’m here to tell you, the low level is too dim, and I won’t be the only user to tell you.
Other than that, Standby Mode is brilliant.
Thanks,
Jerry

I agree with Jerry. But in my case, the brightness in my Standby mode does NOT become ambient. It's too bright at night. I also want to adjust it.
It seems the answer to your inquiries is this:
Hey Fitnessplus,
The only possible solution that I found whilst troubleshooting the brightness of my device on standby mode is that you need light for the ambient adjusting to kick in.
Basically shine a little light on the phone whilst its on standby mode then I am pretty sure the brightness will adjust itself.
Thanks.
Hey MikeOnTheRoad,
We'd recommend checking out this article as it provides the best information on your options for StandBy on your iPhone: Use StandBy to view information at a distance while iPhone is charging - Apple Support

Thanks!
If you want it to be ambient, make sure lights are off around you. If it still doesn’t turn ambient, you need to turn on night mode.
to turn on night mode, go to settings > Standby > night mode
then it should turn ambient in dark areas.
Let me know if this helped
