Device timezone is incorrectly recognized by apps

Ever since I upgraded to Sonoma, Google and Slack have been showing my device time zone as Pacific, even though I’m in the Philippines. My System Preferences are correctly set to “Philippine Standard Time.” This bug is causing problems with my automated notification schedules.

Anyone else experiencing the same thing? How did you resolve the issue?

If the time zone is set correctly and works properly with other applications - eg Calendar, Safari, Clock - it would seem to be an issue with the applications. I would check if there are specific app settings dealing with location. I don’t have either of the two applications you are seeing a problem with. You should also check for updated versions of those applications.

I am experiencing problems with several applications related to time zone settings – Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Slack, etc. My Calendly stopped defaulting to my time zone, my Slack's notification schedule is all messed up, my Google Chat's DND is very confused.

I have not checked other applications yet, but this issue seems to only affect non-Apple applications. Safari and Calendar are working fine. All this started only after I updated to Sonoma. It's one thing to have one app encounter time zone issues. If it was isolated, we can probably blame it to that app. But it's another thing to have all non-Apple apps receive the wrong time zone from the OS.

Upgraded to Sonoma a week ago, then traveled from east coast to west coast and adjusted my time zone in settings. All good until I realized that the meeting times in the Calendar app didn't adjust by 3 hours. I was able to get it corrected by going into Calendar>Settings>General>Advanced and unchecking "Turn on time zone support".

Oddly enough, unchecking that box corrected my meeting times for the time zone I'm in. Really odd.
