Finding new Bluetooth devices not showing/working

When I try to connect my new bluetooth device to my mac, it doesn't show it on the bluetooth settings and I can't connect to it. I can only connect to already connected old devices.

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 12.7

Follow the vendor's instructions on how to pair that BT device. As long as you have Bluetooth enabled in System Preferences : Bluetooth panel, and the device's Bluetooth profile(s) are supported by macOS Monterey, it should eventually pair per the first sentence.

If the device is not a Bluetooth multi-link device, it can only pair with one device at a time and if it is already paired to another nearby powered device, it won't pair with the current Mac until it is unpaired elsewhere.
