Haywire bilingual dictation

My Dictation, which is English by default, German secondary, will not switch back to English even when “space” instead of “Leerzeichen” is on the space bar and the English keyboard is on my screen. I dictate English, my phone writes German or German pidgin. But when I dictate in German, it cheers up and writes perfect German. I cannot expect all my monolingual friends and family to learn German. I am Going blind.?I cannot live without Dictation please help. This seemed to have begun with last IOS update a few days ago

Yes, I have tried all of these things many times. The problem was, he dictation got stuck in a pigeon between German and English. It stayed that way for several days. Yesterday I took my phone out of town with me. When I was completely out of range of all Wi-Fi, and on only cellular, I shut down and then restarted my phone and went back into settings and finally. The setting was restored to its normal, look, with, English and German listed as languages and they were of the color that I knew that I could actually make them work and German at that point was default. Before I had had it in English. So in fear and trepidation, I punched English and lo and behold a checkmark appeared. So immediately I tried dictation again and it worked. I have no idea why it got stuck. I hope it never happens again because with a MD, I desperately need dictation.

Hey there Trakltrans,

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities.

To get started, since noticing the issue have you tried restarting your iPhone to see if that's able to help, even if just temporary? While restarting may seem like a simple step, it can often help with resolving some unexpected issues like this: Restart your iPhone - Apple Support

If the issue persists after restarting, are you currently updated to the latest iOS version 17.0.3 that was released today? If not, updating the iOS can also bring the latest features, security updates, and bug fixes, which may also be able to help with the issue you're seeing.

If you need any help with updating, check out this next link here: Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

Keep us updated on the results.

Take care.
