Stolen iphone 14 pro location updated 3 days after the sim was blocked

My iphone 14 pro was stolen out of my pocket around 2:30 am. I blocked the sim around 12 hours later. 3 days after I blocked the sim, I received an updated location of the phone. I didn't receive any notification, just noticed that the location updated in the find my app. From what I could tell, my phone has been offline since it was stolen. All attempts to put on lost mode or erase said pending. Is it possible that the location was updated because someone somehow got into my phone without it going online? I'm worried about my data as I'm not sure what hackers are capable of these days, and I'm just wondering why this location update would happen as everywhere I read says the phone needs to be online to be able to do this.

Well, the other possibility is the Find My network. This is a crowd-sourced feature; another iPhone that is near your lost phone can detect its Bluetooth beacon, even if the phone is off, and report its location to Apple who then forwards the location to you.

Ever wonder about that phrase under the slider to power off the phone?

The phone is still "On", even if it has been powered off.

"iPhone Findable After Power Off"

The phone sends out a very brief but intermittent Bluetooth signal that can be picked up by other iPhones and iPads in close proximity. Those devices forward information about the location of the phone to the Find My servers.

The phone will continue to send out a signal until the battery runs completely down. In some cases, that means that the phone can send out a signal for a few weeks if the battery power holds out.

Unfortunately, thieves know all about this, so they often place a stolen phone in a special type of bag that will not allow the phone to send or receive a signal.

If it shows offline in Find My how did you receive the updated location?

Beware of a common phishing scam: You may get a text or email from “Apple” or “Apple Security” (or sometimes “Police”) saying your phone has been found and to click on a link to see its location. This is NEVER from Apple or from law enforcement; it is from the thief or fence to steal your Apple ID and identity. Delete any such message without responding to it. Apple never gets involved in lost or stolen devices→Avoid phishing emails, fake ‘virus‘ alerts, phony support calls, and other scams

thanks for the tip! I have no idea how the location updated, since this isn't supposed to be possible. That's why I'm worried whoever has the phone has hacked it in some way that caused the location to update without showing that the phone went online. I got the location from the find my app, not from any text. It hasn't updated since - this was about 5 days ago.
