Find my friends error

I’m having trouble sharing my location with someone. I sent my location to them and they didn’t get notified so I had them share their location with me I got notified then I shared my location. They went and looked if they could see my location and it said “location not available” Everyone else that I share my location with can see my location except one person. I’ve turned my phone off and on and made sure in my settings regarding to sharing my location that everything is enabled or on. How can I fix this?

Hello Sydnj01,

Thank you for keeping us updated. You did mention that everyone else can see you without any issues This issue only occurs with one specific contact. This might be linked to that specific contact's device. If this is the case, we can recommend some steps they should try on their device to further isolate this issue. Follow the steps below:

1.) Make sure both devices are fully updated to the most compatible iOS version. This can usually help with unique issues, since updates include fixes. Just in case, this link can guide you through the update process: Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

2.) Check to see if your friend has any restrictions enabled: Use parental controls on your child's iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support

3.) You can also try refreshing both device's communication settings by resetting your Network Settings. Tap Settings > General > Transfer or Reset [device] > Reset > Reset Network Settings. This also resets Wi-Fi networks and passwords, cellular settings, and VPN and APN settings that you’ve used before. If you're using iCloud Keychain, these settings are also removed from other signed-in devices.

We hope these steps help you. Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.

Hi Sydnj01,

The first component to verify is outlined on the page Share your location in Find My on iPhone:

"Note: Location sharing and finding people aren’t available in all countries or regions. If you set up location sharing and others still can’t see your location, make sure Location Services is on in Settings  > Privacy & Security > Location Services > Find My. See Control the location information you share on iPhone."

If properly configured, it may be that your request is not going to the intended recipient. Try sharing your location through another means such as:

"Share your location in the Messages app

  1. Open the Messages app on your iPhone and select a message.
  2. Select the name of the person or group at the top of the conversation.
  3. Select Send My Current Location. Your recipient will see your location on the map. Or choose Share My Location, then choose the length of time that you want to share your location for."

From the site Find people and share your location with Find My. Verify the information you have stored for the contact in question is accurate including phone number, email address, etc.

Regards.
