Getting horizontal lines on 2013 MacBook Pro

Yesterday morning when I woke the MB Pro I started getting horizontal scrolling lines. I reset the PRAM and no more lines for the rest of the day. This morning, same thing. Reset PRAM again, three times and still getting the scrolling lines.

Horizontal would point to GPU /screen buffer /display-generator .

If this mac has 2 GPU try switching. ex the Photos.app will automatically switch to the Discreet GPU.

the default GPU is Integrated...

You can plug into an external monitor and compare your results—

take a screen shot and see if the issue is there on the image, SS come direct from the GPU.

Hardware issues can not be solved on line here.

Based on your response I looked up some YouTube videos. For the most part the answer to my issue was old dried out thermal paste replacement. So I did that. Much, much improved. Also found a video that mentioned Fast Graphics Switching. I turned that off.

Now I have just the slightest of flicker. Sort of like sitting in your house with the shades pulled and it is lightening outside. But barely noticeable.

I don't know what to do beyond just taking it in to a Genius bar to diagnose the most recent symptom.
