How do I update old software

I purchased a refurbished MacBook Pro to watch movies but wanted to know if I’m able to purchase the latest software so that I’m able to use the laptop for my personal business to update inventory, data, etc for my delivery service?

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.13

What software exactly are you looking to purchase?

The macOS operating system is free, it does not need to be purchased. You can update, if your Mac model supports it.

What model / year of refurbished Mac did you buy?

Do not post the serial number here. The model / year will be enough.

If its running macOS 10.13 High Sierra, its fairly old, and may not be able to support the current version: macOS 14 Sonoma.
