I bought a stereo pair of the latest Home Pod for my bedroom. Every time I turn on my system, Apple TV wants to default to the TV speakers instead of the Home Pods. Why can't I change the default speakers in Apple TV settings?

For the HD/4th generation model, other speakers than TV speakers (or receiver speakers over HDMI) are always ‘temporary’.

Seems like something that can be corrected with a software update. Am I wrong?
It seems like a deliberate choice.
