Is Chrome still bad for Final Cut? Is it still bad for macOS? Why does it appear so many people use it?

I recall a few years ago, someone in this group posted about Chrome and Keystone causing big problems on macOS and in particular a problem for Final Cut. Is this still true? Why upon doing a Google search does it appear so many websites recommend Chrome on Macs?

Thanks!

Well, first I would think that they would finally have fixed it by now, but thought I'd check. I guess they get something out of it that's worth it, despite Mac pro apps failing with it, probably based on number of users. Well, I'm using FF now, and it seems to do no harm.

2nd: the chromeisbad website doesn't mention pro apps at all. It seems to imply that it's bad for all Macs. So what's the story?

TIA!

The author is probably not a ProApps user. How it affects FCP adversely is easy to infer based on the summary in his first paragraph.

"Short story: Google Chrome installs an updater called Keystone on your computer, which is bizarrely correlated to massive unexplained CPU usage in WindowServer (a system process)[1], and made my whole computer slow even when Chrome wasn't running. Deleting Chrome and Keystone made my computer way, way faster, all the time."

On top of that, the Keystone software appears to overwhelm the Mac's videotoolbox and can damage the FCP install, requiring a reinstall.
