Macbook Pro 2015 not recognising upgraded NVMe SSD

I wanted to upgrade my 2015 MBP with a new Kingston A2000 NVMe SSD, because the original one was running out of space. With an external enclosure formatted the new SSD to APFS and installed macOS Monterey (12.6) on it also. Using a Sintech adapter I plugged it in, but it is nowhere to be found in Disk Utility. The SSD is alao new and works on both mac and windows with an external enclosure.

Any ideas? Maybe the syntech adapter is bad?

Normal procedure is, after formatting the new drive in the enclosure, to CLONE the old drive to the new one. I use Carbon Copy Cloner.

Then you use the Startup Disk pref confirm the new drive is bootable. Use that pref only tok look, not restart.

Now you remove the new drive from the enclosure and install in the computer. Cannot comment on the adapter.

Personally I do not think much of that brand and I'd not try to install it and use it on a Mac.

Having said that, I agree with Allan, you should clone your system to the external while in an enclosure, test it, and then install it. Don't forget to wipe the new drive while formatting it - that means you remove the unnecessary software that is included.
