Local printer redirection to Remote Desktop not working after update to SONOMA

After updating my MacBookPro to the new MacOS SONOMA, the redirection of local printers doesn't work anymore. Printers are visible and can be selected, but no printing of the document will happen. Printers work inside of my VPN and outside of my VPN but I cannot print from my VPN to my local printer anymore. This was never an issue before. Any solutions? I have tried uninstalling the printer locally, disconnecting & reconnecting printer from my VPN, reinstalling Remote Desktop, rebooting both computers, etc. Please help. It will not let me revert back to MacOS Ventura, so I am stuck.

Microsoft has released a beta version of their Remote Desktop client that resolves this issue:

Microsoft Remote Desktop, right?

If so, I *think* this is related to the removal/deprecation of PSNormalizer in Sonoma.

And, unless Apple puts it back, Microsoft will have to provide an update.

Thank you so much. I used the beta version of Microsoft Remote Desktop as you suggested, and my local printer now works inside my VPN. Much appreciated!

Apple’s recent update fixed the issue. I have switched back from remote desktop beta version to the regular remote desktop version and everything is printing correctly.

After doing the most recent update, I was able to go back to my original version of Microsoft Desktop and everything was printing and working correctly with that. I'm not sure if you are using the beta version or OG version of Microsoft Desktop? I'm sorry it isn't working for you.

I am by no means an IT person, so I'm not sure how much I can help. Here are some things I did along the way, to try and fix the issue: Delete the Microsoft Desktop and re-install. Delete my VPN and re-set up. Delete the printer and re-install.

I have everything updated, macos and the Remote Desktop app. It still doesn't work for me. Sometimes the printer shows in Remote Desktop and sometimes it doesn't. Either way, the printer still doesn't work. It just doesn't print.

I have tried both the original version om Remote Desktop and it still doesn't print. The printer's activity light just flashes once, and returns to a solid state. The print shows in the printer queue and disappears as it should be. But nothing comes out of the printer.
