Time Machine from iMac 2017 Big Sur to new iMac Sonoma

Hi, so I have a question about the time machine process. I have an iMac 2017 that runs on Big Sur, and I'm looking to buy a new iMac that should be running on Sonoma. If I make a backup on the iMac 2017 will I be able to recover that backup in the new iMac that I'm buying? I'll be using a 2TB SSD for the backup disk. Tysm.

Yes. When you start your new Mac it will ask if you want to migrate from Time machine. This will move all your files, settings etc. to your new Mac. If all your apps worked with Big Sur they should also work with Sonoma.
