iPhone 15 Pro battery draining without use

I just activated my new iPhone 15 Pro (IOS 17.0.2) yesterday. However, it drains lots of power even the data transfer was all done and in stand-by mode. This is very disappointed with this new iphone performance, even much worse than my current iPhone 13 Pro, could not even work for half day. Regret that I bought this product.

You may think all the data is complete, but for a few days a new iPhone will work hard in the background indexing billions of bytes of data, which you won't see. And there are other factors which you might want to look at. For example, do you have location services turned on for all of your apps? That can eat up your battery and for many apps, it's just not necessary. Are you connected to Wifi for the most part or you are you relying on cellular? If you have the phone set on 5G only and you live in an area with limited 5G service, the phone will be constantly working on remaining connected to 5G, which can also eat up battery. To check that, Settings > Cellular > Data Options. I would recommend setting it to 5G Auto or if you don't have good 5G service, set it to LTE.

Finally, I would recommend a Forced Restart, which could help with the battery. This link explains how to force restart your iPhone --> Force restart iPhone – Apple Support (UK)

Remember this procedure. Anytime something doesn't seem to be working as you expect, do this. After every iOS update, do this.

Give the phone a few days to settle in.

Wattage:

65w is the the fastest, if that is what is mentioned on the device. Use a charging block for this wattage.

Troubleshooting a Draining iPhone Battery:

A. Battery Drain Info:

The iPhone battery will drain, unless it is plugged in and charging. With lots installed, the charge would be slower. As for how fast it would drain the battery, that would depend on the battery health and the volume (sound) you use.

  1. Go Here: iPhone Battery and Performance - Apple Support
  2. Scroll Down: to "Your battery's maximum capacity"

B. Verify the Baterry Health Percentage:

Apple recommends you get a new battery, once the Battery Health reaches 80% or lower. When the Battery Health is 80% or lower, it is time for a new battery. Unfortunately, these if no way to know how, nor when, then percentage decrease occurred. So see if it tine for a new battery...

  1. Go To: Settings
  2. Tap: Battery
  3. Tap: Battery Health
  4. View: [the percentage]
  5. Is it 80% or less?  If so, it is time for a new battery.

I got my iPhone 15 Pro Max 2 weeks ago and its running iOS 17.0.3 but still facing same problem. Before I sleep I left it with 100% battery charge, waking up after 7hrs my battery went to 89% without even using it. Even though I followed all the settings in the internet on how to keep my battery from draining too fast but the problem still the same. I even put it on low power mode all the time. I hope they will fix this as soon as possible.

This is exactly what happened to me. I have turned off most battery-draining features and force-close WhatsApp apps every time I check my messages. And still, the battery on my 15 Pro drains 1% every 3-4 minutes. I charged my phone to 100% this morning and after fast scrolling Instagram for about 5 minutes and the battery went down to 99%. The draining is lightning-fast!

Shocked at how appalling

the 15pro battery life is.

And before any apple

experts respond – I have read all the battery saving options and applied what’s

needed – see below for shocking details. That said – I also don’t see how apple

can claim certain battery life on a device with all the wonderful features if

you can’t use any of them – so I expect apple to be honest and answerable.

My new iPhone 15 pro – purchased 20th December – battery manufactured November and first

used December – showing 100%. - a Total of 7 cycles as per the phone.

I have charged using optimised battery for the first 2 / 3 charges, then changed to 80% limit.

With the 80% limit the most I can get is one day battery – with very limited use.

No calls, always-on display disabled, without background refresh, mail set to manual, with Wi-Fi calling enabled on one sim – the other sim limited to LTE only (Note the phone is never out of Wi-Fi range). Limited apps installed.

I then even attempted to change the battery setting to low power mode – made no difference – same result.

Now I hate to compare but have

no choice – a one year old A12 (a entry level competitor vs flagship iPhone) –

with similar functionality. (Limited to charge to 85%).

Also with 2 sims, both in Wi-Fi

calling enabled, with same e-mail as per the iPhone, and additional 4 g-mail

accounts, with multiple apps at least 20 more over the iPhone including all

installed on the iPhone.

The battery lasts 3 days or MORE.

with some surfing on the net and getting mails updated at least 2 or 3 times a

day.

The one difference is iPhone

has the series 9 watch connected to it. – but if I must charge a watch every

day, and a phone every day then apple is way off the mark when it comes to

battery life. – even the outdated iPhone 6 used as a family handset (receive easily

5 to 10 calls of varying length per day and only needs to be charged every 2nd

day) – so even with is 87% battery status it is performing better than the 15

pro with a 100% battery status.

Based on these FACTS :

I am extremely disappointed with iPhone 15 / Apple - As this implies this phone

will be useless in approximately 1 year with minimal battery wear (and wont even last 1 day) without a new battery. This is TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE.
