Maximum Capacity reduced after 31 cycles

It's just 6 months since I bought this MacBook m2 . Is this okay? I'm still under the limited warranty . I think it is reduced just after macOS Sonoma update

It's a feel good estimation that consumers seem to want. It's essentially eye candy and has no direct bearing on battery health. It's just a count.

If you left your Mac on charge for 10 years the cycle count would be very, very low .. maybe 1 or 2 even. But the battery will still have degraded. That's just the way chemical processes work.

The metric you need to be aware of is remaining capacity. When it drops to 80% Apple recommends replacing the battery. Battery degradation is neither predictable nor is it necessarily linear.

A battery can be totally "consumed" at any point in the 1,000 cycle estimate. It may last 200 cycles; it may last 1,200 cycles. No two batteries are alikee and you will never get perfect laboratory results in the real world.
