Garmin adding data to Apple health (not syncing)

I have an iPhone 14pro and a Garmin smartwatch. I’ve noticed that Garmin will add information to Apple Health rather than syncing it. This gives very inaccurate results in Health.

For example: Today I wore my watch and carried my phone with me everywhere. Theoretically, they should have about the same numbers. But they don’t. At the end of the day Health said I had walked approximately 6750 steps, walked about 3.8 miles and burned 320 calories. Before I synced the apps, Garmin Connect said I had walked about 9000 or 10000 steps and burned about 390 calories. After the sync, Apple now says I’ve walked over 10000 steps, burned almost 700 calories, and walked over 7 miles. It’s always been like this.

I’ll be real honest, I did not walk 10000 steps or 7 miles today. Like not even close. So, can anyone tell me why the apps are syncing like this? Is anyone else experiencing this issue?
