Installer Progress? Is this right?

I've had Sonoma on my iMac two days, so two start ups have occurred and both times I get this happen (see screenshot).

Is this suppose to happen and take over 3 minutes of boot up time?

My OS load time is around 7 minutes total since Sonoma. Is that right as well?

What can I do to help all these issues?

Thanks in advance

I reinstalled Sonoma and didn’t lose anything. Mind you I have most of my stuff in iCloud . I also backed up in Time Machine, just in case. You will need to follow the instructions on whether or not yours is Silicon or Intel. Mac computers with Apple silicon - Apple Support Mine is an Intel Mac and I did the first option of Command-R:  like in this video.

I think I am one step closer to solving it.

I figured out that if I turn on my Cintiq before booting up, the "Installer Progress" grey screen doesn't appear and the Wacom Centre auto opens on completion of boot up.

So I think this delayed start up and grey screen has something to do with Wacom.

I will send them a support, but they tend to ask you to replicate the issue on several other Macs before doing anything about it, so I guess I wont get any joy there.

But at least I am moving in the right direction.

It’s a progress installer app and the left side of the menu bar won’t load. It’s on mine on the MBA 2019. It was ok the first few days then this started. Takes about three minutes to load the desktop and show my wallpaper. I tried safe mode, did first aid in disk utility. Restarted, shut down many times.

I reinstalled macOS Sonoma, didn’t help. It’s not as slow now and I’m sick of trying to fix it. I have no login items on it. I removed them. I don’t have a USB on hand to do the bootable installer and erase to go back to Ventura. I can’t see me typing the correct commands in terminal. I am giving it to my daughter anyways. It’s ok to use once it warms up. I regret installing Sonoma on it. If I play a movie I bought on iTunes it’s says my device can’t play it but I hit play anyways and it works. Not tested everything like mail etc. She can have it, it’s free.

OK

I am getting convinced that even if the Wacom Drivers are not totally responsible they have something to do with it.

Yesterday there was an update for Wacom. After that the issue changed habit.

I had to reboot 3 times to get the wallpaper to appear. If you look at the wallpaper option in system preferences there is a spinning wheel for a very long time before anything appears.

Anyway, eventually the wallpapers kicked in, but this was coincidental to the Wacom Center seemingly hanging and then popping in.

Today, I booted up and two grey screens on iMac and Cintiq. I rebooted and got the same. The Wacom Centre was freezing, but eventually popped in. I quit and still two grey screens. Frustrated I switched off my Cintiq and low and behold the wallpaper for the iMac popped on screen. It was in Dark mode which I never selected and when I reselected Dynamic it changed to my usual preference.

I am not sure if this is playing a part, but the Wacom device has issues based around this "Installer Progress" screen.
