MacBook Pro battery not charging
I recently encountered an issue with my MacBook Pro 14" (2023-model), where the battery won't charge although powered through the original MagSafe-power cable.
The MacBook will charge using the exact same cable, when connected to the original 67W USB C power adapter. However, when connected to an alternative 90W USB C power source it detects that it's powered, but will not charge the battery. The battery icon will display the power plug symbol whilst connected, but it's alternating on/off as if I would disconnect and reconnect the power cable.
My first thought was that this would have to be linked to the alternative power source, but the fun part is that everything works fine if I hook the MacBook up using a standard USB C cable.
Scanning through forum/ support pages like this one, provides no explanation or resolution.

I have searched for articles debating the implementation of the USB C standard onto the MagSafe interface, but without luck.
Has anyone else observed this or is there an available explanation other than that the MagSafe cable must be defective and thus replaced - if it hadn't been for the fact that everything works fine with the 67W charger.
