Calendar on Apple Watch not syncing

Since the update to watchOS 10.0.1 and iOS 17.0.2, the calendar on my Apple Watch doesn't sync anymore.

It displays the old appointments, from before the updates. The new and changed items are simply not shown.

No, not on the Apple Watch itself. But on your iPhone; the Apple Watch app on your phone, which controls your Apple Watch.

You will see in the app, in the list of installed/enabled apps, the Calendar slide will be set to ‘enable’.

Just slide it to disable. The Calendar app will be uninstalled from the Apple Watch.

After that just re-enable and the Calendar will re-appear on your watch.

Hello Captain-_-Chaos,

Your Apple Watch should show you events from the past six weeks and (in some views) for the next two years. If it isn't syncing the new events or changes you make in Calendar on your iPhone, there are a few troubleshooting steps we can try to refresh that connection.

  • Check to make sure you have both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi enabled on both devices.
  • Confirm you are still signed in with your Apple ID on both your iPhone and Apple Watch.
  • Fully restart both your iPhone and your Apple Watch.

If you're still not seeing those new or updated events, please contact Apple Support for more advanced support options. You can connect from the Get Support portal in most countries.

Cheers!

If I understood correctly it was solved by uninstalling the calendar app so my question was how to uninstall the calendar app so I can fix the same issue. I don’t get the option to uninstall the calendar app. I’m not sure what you meant by “the Apple Watch menu” on your iPhone. Is that menu on settings? On the Watch app? I’m also using WatchOS 10 and iOS 17 as well. Thank you.

Hiya,

in agreement with you - been struggling to follow the advice on how to remove or disable a built-in app on an Apple Watch! Found this online just now and tried it but it is not possible to delete the Calendar app from the Apple Watch following these instructions! Grrrrr.....

Open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone. Scroll to installed apps. De-select Calendar (slide to disable).

Restart the Apple Watch.

the calendar app will disappear from your Apple Watch.

After that, just return to the Apple Watch app on your iPhone and slide the Calendar selection button to enable. Restart your Apple Watch. The calendar app will be reinstalled on your Apple Watch.

With all due respect, I have tried to do exactly as you describe - a number of times - except that I do not have the options you have to make it work. I appreciate your efforts to be helpful and am grateful that someone is trying to share what worked for them.

Where things do not seem to be the same is that your menu options sound very different to mine and I suspect for the other person who has also asked some questions seeking clarity on how you managed to get this to work when neither of us can.

Incidentally, I have done some investigating and it does appear that the calendar app cannot be removed the way you are describing? Bringing me back to the point - you seem to have different options on your operating system.

  1. My Calendar app is not listed with the 'installed apps' as an optional app. It is in the list of default apps and it cannot be disabled or deleted via the Watch App on my iphone
  2. In other words, when I go to the listings of apps installed on my watch, there is no disable option on the Calendar.
  3. I am using the most up to date versions of iOS and WatchOS.

Thanks again for taking the time to share your advice and to repeat it. There really is no need to reply unless you can see why there is a difference between your operating system and mine: given we are both stating we are using the most up to date versions.

After trying everything here, this worked. Also pressing the button gives you no feedback, but the sync happened on my watch about 10 seconds later.

Force sync Calendar data on Apple Watch

  1. Open the Watch app on your iPhone and tap the My Watch tab.
  2. Tap General, then tap Reset.
  3. Tap Reset Sync Data.

I was having the exact same issue: calendar changes made on my computer were not syncing to my watch. I discovered that the calendar app on the Apple Watch syncs only with the iPhone. So after making calendar changes on a Mac, I needed to open the calendar app on my phone and allow the changes to sync there. Once I did, the changes appeared on my watch was well.

Not sure if the same applies to everyone, but hopefully that's helpful to a few folks.
