What MacBook to buy for graphic designer?

I am a part time freelance graphic designer. I worked at a printers for 20 years and since having children I am designing freelance.

I have been using my iMac for work but it is painfully slow and I mean it’s PAINFUL. Hours to open a file / programme. It drives me mad.

Time for a new Mac. I am keen on a macbook / MacBook Pro but have no idea what sort to buy, that’s where I am hoping for some advice!

I use the Adobe suite for designing, I will probably keep my projects on there and will use it for internet use etc. I do not create massive projects, more logo design, design for print etc.

The spec from my iMac is below, I have not updated the OS for years as I wanted to still be able to run my version of QuarkXpress 8. I am willing to give up on Quark now as it is very rare that I need to pull up old artwork created in it.

My main question is what RAM I might need and also how much storage. Also, should I buy new or refurbished? I ideally would like to spend approx £800-£1000.

Sorry if it seems like a silly enquiry, I have always worked on Macs but never understood the technical side!

Thanks in advance.
