why does iphone keep asking for my passcode when backing up to a mac

i have tried reset network settings before, on both iOS 16 and now on iOS 17, i keep getting the prompt to enter my passcode on the phone when i attempt to sync or backup iphone with my mac. i ahve also tried resetting location and privacy. i have even completely wiped my phone and started with a fresh iOS 17 install and replaced my apps one by one from the app store instead of from backup.

is this a permanent feature now ? it seems like a bug. it's been around since iOS16 and i haven't seen it fixed yet.

what will that accomplish ? i do that often, every day or every other day in fact.

just to clarify and make sure i don't misunderstand, i was just informing about the keypad display, not implying that's a problem because it is not.

my problem is that my phone keeps asking me to trust the same computer and macOS versions it's been tethered to since around iOS16, despite trying to fix it.

so is this a bug, or a new setting i have to dig into to find and turn off ?
