Won't boot in Safe Mode
For context, this is on a 2019 MacBook Pro running Sonoma. When attempting to boot into Safe Mode by holding the Shift key on startup, it will boot to the login screen, then after about 2 seconds the screen will go black for about 5 seconds and show the login screen for about 2 seconds again. It will continue to loop from black to login screen without any time to enter the login password.
Things I have tried are:
- Booting into recovery and running Disk First Aid.
- Reset SMC (its an Intel Mac)
- Reset NVRAM
The only way to exit the loop is to shut down using the power key and restart. I would not call it a boot loop since the screen is only black for about 5 seconds after showing the login screen for 2 seconds and does not show the Apple Logo like it is booting again. It just loops from the login screen for 2 seconds to black screen for 5 seconds, then continues with the login screen for 2 seconds.
