iTunes reports over capacity phone shows 63gb free

iTunes now will report visually that it is showing a full device, but doesn’t show over capacity until you change from sync over Wi-Fi back to standard sinking using cable.

at this point briefly, iTunes shows over capacity by whatever number it shows, but it tries to sync fails and does not report any error.

I rebuilt the phone from scratch a number of times not from iTunes back up so the only day that on the phone is from Photos and apps synced to iCloud although I’ve done this a number of times, iTunes appears to work briefly and then goes into sync fail- time out .

How do I determine what is over capacity? Visually you can see here that phone itself has plenty of space and it is known why the error continues.

Hello mmt_Marc,

So to clarify, it sounds like there is a mismatch in used storage being reported on the iPhone versus iTunes. Per How to check the storage on your iPhone and iPad - Apple Support:

If storage on your device differs from what you see in the Finder or iTunes
Since the Finder and iTunes categorize cached files as Other, reported usage for Music or Videos might differ. To view usage on your device, go to Settings > General > [Device] Storage.

So we know what you're working with, are you using iTunes on a Windows PC or iTunes on an older macOS?

Cheers!
