Why do my colored Finder tags appear grey in third-party apps?

Hello.

Upgraded my M1 2020 Macbook Pro to Sonoma the other day. Now I'm having trouble with the coloured Finder tags that I use a lot (green, red, etc).

They show correctly in Finder but, in third-party apps like Forklift, Path Finder, HoudahSpot, etc, they all appear grey. I've only found one app, so far, that shows them correctly: Commander One file manager. Setting the view in the others to show a tag column shows the tag correctly, as a word, but the dots are all grey.

The obvious response is to contact the separate developers, which I have, and those that have replied says it's all right on their test rigs.

Spotlight has been reindexed but no joy.

Any thoughts, anyone. Anybody else with the same problem.

This is a bug for sure, maybe with Sonoma, or perhaps with multiple products. I now know it only applies to files and folders within iCloud Drive.

Since I don't really need it these days, I turned iCloud Drive off, restarted the machine and...nothing changed.

But, if you remove the tag and then reset it, all works just fine.

Same problem. The only 3rd party finder program that I've found that correctly renders tags is QSpacePro. Path Finder support has not been helpful. I've sent in multiples tickets, which they seem to have ignored.

What worked for years isn't relevant. Did Cocoatech support tell you they should be in color running in Sonoma, and is for them?

For what it is worth, I have same version of pathfinder (2170) installed on:

M1 running the latest macOS Sonoma 14.5: PF has the same color/tag/label issue reported here.
Intel running macOS Monterey 12.6: PF is working perfectly.

FWiW, in the case of Path Finder it appears Cocoatech is correct.

Path Finder shows the colors correctly in the sidebar but not in the main window.

Well, I already deleted the trial but based on your screen shot, either that's what should happen or they fibbed.

Sounds like multiple products don't know how to access iCloud Drive correctly in Sonoma. Of course I don't use any third-party file managers so I wouldn't notice.
