iPhone trade in for gift card. Can I send the iPhone in without the SIM card?

Yes. When I traded in two of mine the instructions that were given to me were to remove the SIMs.

Will Apple send a "kit" for my iPhone trade in like they do for iPad? I want to trade in my old iPhone SE for a gift card but have no local Apple Store to take it to. When we trade in iPads or phones we have gotten the return kits for the trade in but since this is not replacing anything I just want to get it out of here and can use the gift card for content stuff.
