Yes, Apple products, including your MacBook Air, come with built-in accessibility features that can assist users with visual impairments. The primary screen reader software for macOS is called "VoiceOver," and it's similar in function to JAWS on Windows. VoiceOver is designed to read out text and provide spoken feedback to help users navigate and interact with their Macs.

To enable VoiceOver on your MacBook Air:

1. Click the Apple menu () in the top-left corner of your screen.

2. Go to "System Preferences."

3. Select "Accessibility."

4. In the left sidebar, choose "VoiceOver."

5. Click the "Enable VoiceOver" checkbox to turn it on.

Once VoiceOver is enabled, you can use various keyboard shortcuts and gestures to navigate and interact with your Mac. VoiceOver is highly customizable, allowing you to adjust settings to suit your preferences.

Additionally, there are third-party screen reader applications available for macOS, such as "NVDA" and "Orca," but VoiceOver is the most integrated and widely used accessibility feature for Apple products.

Remember that VoiceOver is just one part of macOS's comprehensive accessibility suite, which also includes features like Magnification, Zoom, and more. You can explore and configure these features in the "Accessibility" preferences to make your MacBook Air more user-friendly based on your specific needs.
