How to disable widgets?

I installed Sonoma in my intel based mac. If I click on the top right corner, a notifications center pops up, showing several widgets. In the lower part has an "edit widgets" button.

Every time I click on that button, or the blue "whats new" image on top, my mac immediately restarts. I don't use or find useful widgets. There's a way to disable them permanently? I'm tired of all those unnecessary restarts.
