Apple watch Ultra 2 crashing

Whenever I set a timer it will start and work as normal. However, at a random point it will cause the screen on the watch to go blank with the Apple logo appearing (as if I’ve restarted the watch), it will then ask me for my pass code again before I can use the watch. I don’t know if this an Ultra 2 thing or does all the apple watches suffer this glitch. It literally only happens when using the timer. Any help would be appreciated.

To me it looks like it’s the Timer Complication that’s causing the issue. If I remove this from my watch face the pulsing stops and the watch doesn’t seem to crash either. I tried it on several watch faces and every time I add the Timer Complication the problem starts again. I guess that’s why not everyone is seeing this issue. Hopefully Apple can sort this bug.

Thanks for visiting the Apple Support Communities PJ0030,

If your Apple Watch is unexpectedly restarting to the Apple logo, we would suggest trying a few additional troubleshooting steps to further narrow down the issue. Try the steps below:

  1. Make sure your paired iPhone has the latest iOS version: Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support
  2. Make sure your Apple Watch has the latest watchOS version: Update your Apple Watch - Apple Support
  3. Restart your watch again: Restart Apple Watch - Apple Support followed by your iPhone: Restart your iPhone - Apple Support

If you still have an issue after that, please get in touch with Apple Support directly. They will have the tools and resources needed to further assist. You can do that here: Get Support

Have a lovely weekend.

I’ve been having exactly this same problem. Apple support replaced my first Apple Watch ultra 2 under warranty and the problem persists on the new one. Exactly the same way that you have described. Nothing will fix it that I’ve tried so far. As time goes on, this issue seems to be getting worse as it will now crash multiple times during my 30 minute lunch break. It’s made me late to clock back in a couple times. Shame on me for not just using the timer on my phone I guess.

Here’s an update for those experiencing similar issues. I called Apple support and was transferred to one of their senior tech advisors. The guy was very helpful and thorough. Whilst we were on the phone I had to unpair the watch from my phone and then I paired it again, updating it from my previous watch backup. That did not fix the problem. So the tech guy said I should try to unpair it again and then set up as new (incase the backup was causing the issue). So I done that after coming off the call, but the problem still persist unfortunately.

Another thing I noticed is that when I have the timer set and my wrist is lowered (changing to the dim display) I can clearly see the screen pulsing in sync with the seconds. I took a recording of this and sent it to the tech guy as well. As soon as I cancel the timer the pulsing stops.
